Off Topic Discussions > Bill's Outdoor Movie Schedule: 2013

Even though we're still a few months out from summer vacation 2013 I'm already getting excited about having another great season of outdoor movies. Last year was truly epic and we had some amazing turnouts. We also did a ton of movies. Our schedule was every other Saturday and we never had to cancel due to weather until very late in the summer - it just got too cold. This year I'm thinking of having less showings but making them bigger events. I want to try my hand at themed movies. For example, showing Nacho Libre and having Mexican food, drink and decorations - ask people to bring something to pass and getting into character. I think by doing this it will get people more involved and excited about the next scheduled showing rather than just showing up just before dark to watch a movie.

Why do I bring this up on ABOG? Because I'm looking to our smart and creative community to give me some similar ideas that work off of this theme; keeping in mind that I still have some younger daughters to consider. So, even though I would love to have a night of Zombie movies where you come dressed in your best undead attire, this just wouldn't be feasible . . . at least not yet.

So help me out, give me your most creative ideas for what I hope will be the best outdoor movie season yet.

First of all let me say this sounds epic, I wish I loved somewhere out there to be able to enjoy something like this. We never have stuff like this here in Los Angeles, I live in the inner city so this isn't very feasible. We use to have drunken Street Fighter & Rock Band nights when I lived at my parents but every since I moved out I miss it. Anyways Nacho Libre Mexican food night sounds awesome. I would suggest if you liked the movie at all maybe a screening of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World where you have some retro gaming either before or after the movie, since the movie is heavily influenced by retro gaming culture.

Scott Pilgrim is actually a really good idea. I've been doing outdoor movies at my house for probably the last 8-9 years and we almost always include gaming after the movie. We started out with playing exclusively on the Wii, but ever since I upgraded to an HD projector I've been bringing out the PS3 and 360 for some high-def gaming on a giant screen.

This suggestion is definitely added to my list of potential movie-night themes.

This is awesome Bill and I wish I lived in the area to join you guys! But my idea is WRECK-IT-RALPH!!!!! Do a video game themed party! easy to pull of and I think it would be awesome! Have someone make Mario coin cookies, have a block breaking game (no idea what to do but a thought) Have a game with legos where you have to fix something like fix it Felix would! Hope this gives you an awesome party!

Looks like we'll definitely be adding Wreck It Ralph to the list as I've received this suggestion from several ABOG members. Thank you so much, and keep 'em coming.
